    Alaska Trophy Fishing Safaris

    All-Inclusive • Small Groups • Wild Fisheries

Since 1973, Alaska Trophy Fishing Safaris has operated on the Mulchatna River in the heart of the Bristol Bay watershed. For decades previous owners, John and Melissa Carlin helped shape this camp into more than a fishing destination. They became strong voices for sport fishermen, wild salmon, and the rivers that make this place possible.

That fight became especially important during the proposed Pebble Mine, which threatened waters connected to the Koktuli River — a river that flows into the Mulchatna system and one we still fish today.

Our mission is to carry that legacy forward: offer guests a true remote Alaska fishing experience while protecting the wild waters that make it possible.

    Where Two Rivers Meet

    The Mulchatna

Wide, deep, and powerful, the Mulchatna is the main artery of our fishery. Its broad channels give us miles of water to explore, from productive salmon runs to stretches holding rainbow trout and grayling.

    The Koktuli

The Koktuli feels like an entirely different river. Much narrower and shallower, it winds through remote country with frequent opportunities to spot Alaska wildlife along the way. Accessible from camp by jet boat, a day on the Koktuli offers a completely different style of fishing and exploring.

    Camp at the Confluence

ATFS sits just above where the Koktuli meets the Mulchatna, putting guests at the doorstep of two distinctly different river systems. From the bigger water of the Mulchatna to the smaller, winding Koktuli, our location gives each week more variety without ever leaving the wilderness.

    Arrival Day

We provide all air transportation between Anchorage and the lodge. Your trip starts with a hotel room booked in Anchorage so you can rest the day before your week begins.

The next morning, depart Anchorage for an approximately 1-hour 30-minute flight to Iliamna Lake. Ground transportation will take you to Rainbow River Aviation, where you'll board a float plane for the scenic ride out to the lodge.

We'll meet you at the river and bring you a short distance to camp by boat. You'll be welcomed by staff and given an orientation covering the layout of the camp and our program.

After settling into your room, your guide will meet you and get you fishing on the river that same day. Upon return, a dinner course will be waiting.

    Departure Day

On departure day, each guest will have their processed, frozen fish carefully packaged into a 48-quart cooler (up to 50lbs) for the trip home.

We’ll take you a short distance downriver by boat to the float plane landing. From there, your return transportation is fully arranged and included — float plane back to Iliamna Lake, ground transfer, and your return flight to Anchorage.

You can expect to arrive back in Anchorage at approximately 7:00 PM. A hotel room will also be booked for you in Anchorage that night, so you can relax and get some rest before continuing your trip home the following day.
